Shipping policy

This policy explains how MoldnFly handles vehicle export, ocean freight, and delivery. Read it before committing to a deal so you know exactly what to expect.

1.  How Vehicles Are Shipped

MoldnFly ships vehicles from the United States to Nigeria using Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) ocean freight — the industry standard for vehicle export. Vehicles are driven onto the vessel under their own power, secured for transit, and driven off on arrival. We work with established freight operators on the US–Nigeria route and book shipments through licensed US freight forwarders.

2.  Export Port

Vehicles typically depart from Freeport, Baltimore, Newark, Jacksonville, Savannah, and Houston depending on vessel availability and routing. The specific departure port is confirmed in your Service Agreement and shown in your Customer Portal.

3.  Destination Port

Standard delivery is to Tincan Island Port or Apapa Port in Lagos, Nigeria. If you are using the Door-to-Door delivery option, our clearing partner Osefadan Enterprise handles release from port and coordinates final delivery to your address.

4.  Shipping Timeline

Ocean transit from the US to Lagos typically takes 4 to 6 weeks from the date of vessel departure. This is an estimate based on current route schedules and does not account for delays caused by vessel scheduling changes, port congestion, or customs processing. MoldnFly will always provide an honest estimated arrival date — not an optimistic one.

5.  Shipping Costs

Estimated shipping cost from the US to Nigeria is approximately $3,000. The exact amount is confirmed at the time of booking and included on your Tri-Partite Deal Invoice before any funds are committed. Shipping costs are held in the US Escrow.com account and released to the freight operator upon confirmed vessel departure.

6.  Tracking

Once your vehicle is loaded and the Bill of Lading is issued, you receive the tracking number directly in your Customer Portal. You can monitor vessel position and estimated arrival in real time. MoldnFly sends a direct update at every major milestone: vehicle loaded, vessel departed, vessel arrived, customs cleared, vehicle released.

7.  Customs Clearance

MoldnFly coordinates customs clearance in Nigeria through Osefadan Enterprise, our licensed clearing partner. Customs funds are pre-loaded into Payscrow before the vehicle ships, so clearance begins immediately on arrival — there is no waiting for the client to source Naira after the fact.

Customs duties in Nigeria range from 35% to 70% of the vehicle's declared value depending on vehicle type and current import levy rates. The estimate provided at deal initiation is based on current rates and is subject to change by Nigerian Customs authorities. Any additional amount required above the estimate must be funded by the client within 48 hours of notification to avoid demurrage charges.

8.  Delivery Options

Two delivery options are available and must be selected before the deal is funded:

▸  Port-to-Port: MoldnFly delivers the vehicle to the cleared port. The client or their agent is responsible for collection and onward transport.

▸  Door-to-Door: MoldnFly coordinates delivery of the cleared vehicle to the client's address in Nigeria via flatbed transport. Additional local delivery charge of $600 to $800 applies.

9.  Vehicle Condition on Arrival

Vehicles are inspected at the dealer before export and documented with photographs. MoldnFly is not responsible for minor cosmetic changes that occur during ocean transit, which is standard for RoRo shipping. Any significant damage occurring during shipping is subject to the freight operator's cargo insurance terms, which MoldnFly will assist the client in pursuing.

10.  Prohibited Vehicles

MoldnFly does not ship salvage title vehicles, flood-damaged vehicles, or vehicles with open safety recalls that have not been remedied. All vehicles sourced by MoldnFly carry a clean title at the time of export.
